PROCEEDINGS OF THE THIRD NAGOYA MEETING ON PATTERN FORMATION

September 29-30, 1989

Chubu Daigaku Techno-Cultural College, Japan

Preface

Recently much attention has been paid for various phenomena of growing materials, organisms and so on which spread over various fields of from microscopic to macroscopic world. It is a main purpose for the present meeting to produce mutual stimulation for those who belong to different fields of sciences. In fact, one of the present editors is a solid state and statistical physicist, and he always gets . a lot of surprising facts from chemistry, biology and so on. Sometimes we can find new problems in different fields as well as in their own majors. Sometimes we can find not only a problem in other fields but also new techniques in order to approach their own problems. It is very happy for the organizers that some of participants can have such an opportunity.
This proceeding contains the detailed reports of the third meeting which was held on the pattern formation at Nagoya. Most of speakers were invited and the contributed papers consist of some original papers (which are refereed as usual) and some review articles.
This meeting was partly supported by Daiko Foundation. We thank the chief editor, Prof. R. Takaki who agreed to publish the proceeding as a supplement of vol. 5 of Forma.
