Self-Induced Vibration of an Evaporating Drop
—Effect of Temperature Condition

Abstract. Self-induced vibration of a drop of liquid-nitrogen placed on a horizontal plate was observed. The temperature of the plate was changed from -90 to 200°C (highly superheated condition). The modes of vibration and the vibration frequency did not depend on the temperature between -90 and 150°. Above 150° appearance of modes seemed random. Effect of the plate temperature on the liquid surface is discussed.
