Abstract. We present a peculiar undulation pattern on a polymer surface of a poly (styrene-block-butadiene-block-styrene) triblock copolymer, which was dissolved in toluene and then cast on a plate kept at 50°C. The pattern showed a series of concentric rings in a cellular compartment. We discuss the effects of size and shape of a preparation dish, using circular petri dishes, doughnut shape (between two co-axial circular petri dishes), triangle and square dishes. It was found that the concentric ring pattern was obtained only in the dish having a round shape of a side wall. As for the size effect, no foundamental difference in the pattern was observed between 8 and 12 cm diameter circular petri dishes.
