Abstract. The fractal dimension of attractors in phase space of a system gives an estimate of degree of freedom in the system. This idea has been applied to the longperiod climatic change by using temperature data sets of proxy records. In this study, we use the actual temperature data of the last 100 years. The existence of a climatic attractor was confirmed in some cases, whose fractal dimension was about 7. By comparing the results obtained from a white noise, it is concluded that the climatic change is apparently different from the white noise.
