Abstract. The growth mode of Ag crystallites on a graphite substrate has been studied using a SEM. The crystallites are nucleated preferentially along the steps on the graphite surface created by cleavage. The crystallites have psudo-spherical polyhedron and in rare cases, have hexagonal shape and triangular shape truncated at the corners.
