Abstract. Sketches of statues of Sakamuni from middle Asia and Japan are presented along with essays on the statues and life of Sakamuni. The essays contain impressions from the statues and opinions about the thought and behavior of Sakamuni. They also contain a conjecture by the author that Sakamuni had a character of a scientist.
